A prototype turbine was commissioned with grid connection in September 2011, producing power for the airport. A year later, a production model replaced the prototype. The Sky Farm is lift based with a Darrieus H-type rotor. Eastern Wind Power has been issued six U.S. Patents and has applied for more in the EU and Canada.
